COLOR WHEEL & COLOR THEORY

 

 

 

PRIMARY COLORS: red, yellow and blue

 

SECONDARY COLORS: combinations of primary colors: orange, green and purple

 

TERTIARY COLORS: combinations of secondary colors: yellow-orange, red-orange, red-purple, blue-purple, blue-green, yellow-green

 

ANALOGOUS COLORS:  These colors sit next to each other on the color wheel. These are often color schemes found in nature and are typically harmonious to our eyes.

 

COMPLEMENTARY COLORS: These colors are opposite one another on the color wheel.  By using these colors, you create color schemes that have high contrast. Some typically combinations are red/green and blue/orange.
